Food for March

This isn't new - it's just fun.  We had our awesome home teachers over for dinner before they  moved to Arizona, and since they are Star Wars fans, I cut the top of the apple pie with the Star Wars cookie cutters.  Josh got the X-Wing and he thought it was so cool he didn't even want to eat it.

The pies I took to Ward Council for Pi Day: french silk chocolate and apple.  They aren't new either but Pi Day is a food holiday so I thought it would be appropriate to mention.

A new recipe - Rachael called this Taco Chili and it fits.  It is so yummy and it was a great crock pot meal, so I see it showing up on our winter menu often.

And a new food: hickory smoked swiss and cheddar cheese.  It was so good, we ate the entire block in two days!

Boone Tavern

One of my favorite spots to take visitors is Boone Tavern restaurant in Berea.  The building is beautiful and they have a great menu, including local cuisine and some more traditional fare.  I have enjoyed every meal I have ever eaten there.

I have taken my parents, Ryan's parents, and been with a few friends, but never with Ryan.  (He was always at work).  He took the day off work today so we could go on a date, and I decided it was time to break him in. I think I have been holding off for years because I know he is going to disapprove of the number of times I have taken Rachael (as a small child) to a restaurant with linen napkins.
We had the traditional spoonbread (it's good if you like cornbread, I always think it could use a big helping of honey alongside it), and we also had an appetizer of homemade potato chips and three cheese dip.  Ryan had the fried catfish and I had a delicious pork sandwich.
Such a fun date day!

Another Tooth

Right after I took this picture she pulled that tooth right out! This makes #3.  She has an adorable lisp from missing so many teeth.  (I did take an after picture, but there was some blood involved, and no one wants to see that...) Now we are working on #4!

Too Much Chocolate

This is chocolate chip cookie pie with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, topped with chocolate sauce. Here is an actual conversation about it:

Ryan: That looks amazing.
Me: Well, the chocolate sauce might be a bit much.
Rachael: No Mom! There's no such thing as too much chocolate!
