We decided we needed another commuter car for Ryan, so we bought a Corvette. Really. I was surprised with the number of people who thought we were kidding.
We finally got our own Elf on the Shelf! We named her Holly Snowflake.
December 5 we moved into our rental home in Dublin, CA.
Rachael, Lorie and I went to see the Nutcracker at Temple Hill at the Oakland Temple. It was lots of fun, and we went to an amazing ice cream shop afterward called Fentons.
Ryan's grandmother passed away in December, so we drove out to Salt Lake for the funeral. While we were sad to lose Grandma, we enjoyed visiting with the family and had a lovely couple of days with Ryan's Uncle Mark and Aunt Maureen.

The third week in December we finally got around to putting up a Christmas tree. We had lights, but the usual family ornaments we put on the tree were in a box in the garage somewhere. We made do with the ones we could find and it was still a pretty tree.
Rachael had her last day at Donlon Elementary in Pleasanton.
We finally made it over to see Santa. We had to wait over an hour in line but we made some new friends and Rachael was thrilled to see Santa.
For the first time since Rachael was born, we had family over to our house for Christmas Eve. The house is still a complete unpacking disaster but we had a really great time.

Among her treasures on Christmas morning, Rachael got a pomegranate in her stocking. I seeded it for her and left the seeds in the fridge where she could get them; she ate them all in about a week.
To round out the year, we went to the beach at Half Moon Bay a few days after Christmas. We had a lot of fun making sand snowmen; we may do this every year! We picked up a couple of fresh dungeness crab for our new year's feast too.
We had an eventful and fun 2012. Here's to an exciting 2013!
